The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 was approved by Parliament on 7th June 2005 and will come into force on the 1st October 2006.The main effect of the changes will be a move towards greater emphasis on fire prevention in all non-domestic premises.

There will be a legal liability for firms will have to appoint a "responsible person" to do "fire assesments" and train their personnel in the use of fire extinguishers. See our Standards page for more details
